Last month, we had the pleasure of shooting our engagement photos with Jason Burns Photography in beautiful Laguna Beach, California. This landmark of Victoria Beach, commonly referred to as the Pirates Tower, embodies the ultimate fairytale ‘Princess Bride’ backdrop.
Often when planning a wedding, we can get too caught up in the fantasy of it all. Focusing on the little intricacies that make up for one night, and one night only. It can begin to spiral down like the stair case of a pirates tower.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s very exciting to start planning the rest of your life with someone you love. But it can get unnecessarily overwhelming—with too much emphasis on trivial matters. In the midst of it all, we were also approached by a production company to follow along on our road to marriage. With of course, a little added ‘ex’ factor. As tempting as that sounds, this doesn’t really ring true to our story. Reluctantly, we had to decline. But staying truthful to ourselves means more to us than becoming the next Kardashians…at least for now.
It’s easy to get wrapped up in the hoopla. Forgetting that it isn’t about a storybook ending, but more of a journey that allows you to grow and evolve as a couple and furthermore, as individuals. Never losing sight on what matters most. Sharing this moment with your best friend and strengthening your love even deeper than when it began. As the Dread Pirate Roberts Says, “This is true love. You think this happens everyday?”
